Parents what an odd pair, they do say opposites attract
My parents, much like the relationship we had with their respective families, could not have been more different when we were young.
Mum was always very outgoing and always spent her time with us kids, agreeably more with the other 2 but also at times with all of us. She took us to our various sports clubs and particularly with my youngest brother followed him as he played all over the country!
She was always the centre of family life, arranging to see the rest of the extended family, days out etc.
Then there was our dad. He worked hard to provide for us all and regularly worked away, so as kids we would be excited when he got home, however he very much had the opinion that kids should be seen but not heard! He never really joined in any fun activities, in fact he seemed to actively avoid doing pretty much anything with us as kids! This thankfully changed in later life but was very painful as a kid and is something I have actively tried to be better at as a parent myself!
